Contest Winner to Be Announced at In the Bag Opening Reception
Newtown’s Reusable Bag Contest winner will be announced by First Selectman Dan Rosenthal at the In the Bag art show opening and gala event on September 8 at 6:30 pm at Newtown’s Municipal Center (Fairfield Hills). The full event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 6:00-8:00 pm. The contest, which was open to children in grades 1-12 in Newtown, was sponsored by The Newtown Environmental Action Team (NEAT), in coordination with the Newtown Parks and Recreation Department. Ten finalists have been chosen, and the winning design will be printed on a reusable bag that will be available at the September 8 event and throughout Newtown. The contest is part of NEAT’s educational campaign to reduce the use of plastic bags in Newtown.
The designs of all ten finalists will be on display from Sept 8th-28th as part of the In the Bag exhibit.
